Freeport LNG Facility
Freeport, Texas
Shoreline Protection
The newly constructed LNG Facility in Freeport, TX required construction of a ship turning basin to facilitate mooring and dockside unloading of large liquefied natural gas transport vessels. As the LNG transport vessels will be moored by tugboats, the shoreline will be subjected to severe propwash driven hydraulic conditions.
Because of its proven hydraulic performance capacity, Shoreblock BD 600 CC was chosen to provide the necessary scour protection for the turning basin shoreline.
The closed cell style product was used to limit the vegetation and, thus, maintenance cost for the facility.
Due to the ease of installation of the ACBs construction of the shoreline protection system was completed in record time and ahead of schedule.
